According to the most recent data from the FBI, the total crime rate in Kalamazoo County is 6,234.7 per 100,000 people. That’s 165.76% higher than the national rate and 239.05% higher than the Michigan total crime rate.
Before current Kalamazoo County Richard Fuller assumed office in 2009, Kalamazoo County had a history of electing Republican Sheriffs. In fact Sheriff Fuller was the first Democrat to assume office as Sheriff in decades. Since Sheriff Fuller took over in 2009 violent crime is up 27% in Kalamazoo County, while the Michigan average is down by 5% during the same time period.
Instead of focusing on policies to reduce crime and make Kalamazoo communities safer, Sheriff Fuller has taken the unique approach of using police resources to send detectives to a man’s house who called him fat on Facebook, marching for abortion, and hanging out in Lansing with Democrat politicians.
Kalamazoo County needs common sense policing policies to reduce crime and get violent offenders off of the street. Kalamazoo is ranked as one of the top cities in nation for violence, we can’t continue the current trend we are on. If we don’t change course now, our once loved city will no longer be.
In 2024 the residents of Kalamazoo County will have an opportunity to elect a new Sheriff!!
