Members of the KGOP with the Officers of Post 207

Members of the KGOP had a great night eating and socializing at American Legion/VFW Post 207 in Portage last Wednesday. An estimated 40 or more members came out to support the local veteran organizations by purchasing food and drinks at their monthly “Hamburger Night.”  A member of the KGOP, who also volunteers at the post said it was the most money the post has ever made in a single night.

I spoke to several members of the KGOP who attended the event and they all said “it was an amazing event, and they hope we continue to attend more events like this.”  With the feedback we received, the KGOP Veterans Subcommittee will be meeting in March to plan and schedule a monthly dinner that will rotate to different American Legion / VFW posts throughout Kalamazoo County.

Our goal is to support these organizations financially and at the same time creating a fun and meaningful experience for our KGOP members and local veterans.

As President Reagan once said “Veterans know better than anyone else the price of freedom, for they’ve suffered the scars of war. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have won for us. That is our duty. They have never let America down. We will not let them down.”
