I know it seems like we just wrapped up the contentious 2024 election, and now we’re already gearing up for the next election here in Michigan. We successfully helped get President Trump back in the White House and we must continue to build on that momentum.

Have you ever considered running for a local office? This is where policies have a direct impact on your way of life. It’s your mayor and council members directing tax dollars to projects that affect you and your family every day. They decide if a road gets repaved, a bridge gets built, if the library gets increased funding or if a new neighborhood development gets approved.

Here in Kalamazoo County, we have several very important local elections this year. The mayors and several city council members in the cities of Kalamazoo, Parchment and Portage are up for re-election in November of 2025 and we need candidates to run for office in these communities.

To get started, you’ll need to visit your local clerk’s office and ask for information on becoming a candidate. There are several steps involved here. You must fill out a candidate affidavit, get signatures on your petition sheet and file campaign finance paperwork with the county. The deadline to file your paperwork is July 22nd.
The Kalamazoo Republican Party office is here to help you. We can assist you in filling out your paperwork, explain what becoming a candidate entails and help you with your campaign.

If you can’t run for office, make sure you vote in your local election. Never miss an election by signing up for the Permanent Absentee Voters list at your clerk’s office.
