Tonight we mourn the death of Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was assassinated with a single gunshot wound to the neck, while speaking at a campus event at Utah Valley University this afternoon. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
This moment feels horrifically familiar … the moments after then-candidate Donald Trump was shot while at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania a little over a year ago. Mercifully, by the Grace of God, Trump’s life was spared and by divine providence, became our next President. In 2017, U.S. Representative Steve Scalise too survived an assassin’s bullet.
This is a moment in time … a moment in our nation’s long and storied history, where we must take a stand. As God-fearing, nation-loving conservative Republicans, we must meet this moment head on.
Charlie Kirk preached conservative values to a new generation, showing young patriots how to stand up to hateful, leftist socialist ideology. We cannot let his movement die with his murder. We must use this moment and honor his death by continuing his work, proudly showing we believe in conservative values. We believe in God and our God-given rights to Freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to go where we want, when we want… without the fear of being, at the very least, heckled by some hate-filled person… or worse.
We all know someone who has secretly admitted to being a Republican or a Trump supporter, but just too scared to admit it to their friends or family. Some folks even took down the American flag from in front of their homes for fear of offending a neighbor.
Now is the time to face those fears. Now is the time to stand up and proudly say I believe in these conservative, religious, family-first, patriotic values. I am unashamed to say I love this country. Charlie Kirk did that…. And we must too.
