Today, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-04) released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a great day for parents, students, and education,\u201d said Congressman Bill Huizenga.<\/strong> \u201cIn order for students to reach their full potential, parents must have a seat at the table. No one knows the needs of a child better than the parent. The Parents Bill of Rights Act empowers parents and legal guardians to work with school officials to achieve the best outcome possible for their children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congressman Huizenga helped introduce the Parents Bill of Rights Act on March 1st<\/sup> and is a cosponsor of this legislation. The Parents Bill of Rights Act is built on five commonsense pillars to ensure parents have a voice in their children\u2019s education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Parents have the right to be heard<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Parents have the right to see a school\u2019s budget and spending<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Parents have the right to protect their child\u2019s privacy<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Parents have the right to be updated on any violent activity at school<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
