As was true, I\u2019m sure, in many churches this Sunday, my pastor shared a few words about what happened this past week. Prior to his sermon, without actually saying Charlie Kirks name, he laid out a beautiful statement about Charlie\u2019s political assassination and what it should mean to us, what we should think and believe as a result of the events of this past week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pastor said there are three lessons that we need to learn from Kirk\u2019s assassination: The first lesson is that the world\u2019s answer to truth, post modernism, is that all truth is relative, there is no such thing as evil and wrong.\u00a0 The events of this past week proved that they are completely incorrect.\u00a0 It was true evil that happened this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second lesson we should take away from Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination is that God\u2019s Word provides us with the tools, the prism by which we can interpret not only these events but all the issues of life. We use God\u2019s word as a filter to interpret the world around us and if we do that, we know, based on God\u2019s word that what happened this week was evil, heinous and unjust. We have to have a large place in our world view to prove the providence of God. That God is working in His providence to allow things, that if we were in charge, we would never let happen. We need a large, robust view of the providence of God, and that is difficult apart from our Faith in God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I think about this lesson, that God is in charge and God has a plan, we have already seen many things happen that may not have happened had Charlie Kirk not been killed. Some college campuses are reporting a revival taking place among the students. Turning Point has said that there have been several thousand requests to start chapters on college and high school campuses. I think of Erica Kirk\u2019s words when she stated that \u201cyou don\u2019t know what you have unleashed\u201d. Would these things have happened if Charlie had not been killed? We don\u2019t know but we do know and must believe that God has a plan. The Romans tried to stop the followers of Christ in the early centuries of Christianity. Many were martyred but look at where we are today. While many died, God\u2019s plan brought Christianity to life. I believe with all my heart that God will raise up another Charlie Kirk, maybe many and the ministry will grow, just as God raised up many Christians and Christianity grew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The third lesson we should take away from this evil event, and actually many events throughout history, is that one day, God will make all things right. Romans 12:19 says \u201cbeloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the wrath to God for it is written, vengeance is Mine, I will repay says the Lord.\u201d\u00a0 Two things to remember about this, don\u2019t try to take God\u2019s vengeance, and this comes with a promise \u201cI will repay\u201d.\u00a0 We don\u2019t understand how all this works, but we have to remember there is a command and there is a promise.\u00a0 Somehow, some day and some way they will pay for the evil they have committed. I think this is extremely difficult for us to comprehend.\u00a0 Our natural desire is to \u201cmake them pay\u201d.\u00a0 God will extract his vengeance by His own means.\u00a0 This doesn\u2019t mean we should sit\u00a0 idly by and shout \u201cJehovah Jirah\u201d (God will provide).\u00a0 We need to do our part and trust God\u2019s appointed servants (laws and law enforcement) to do what they\u2019re supposed to do.\u00a0 We have a responsibility to point out the injustice and bring it to the attention of our God ordained leadership.\u00a0 We have already seen some of this carried out as evil people have celebrated Charlie Kirk\u2019s death.\u00a0 They are paying the price!\u00a0 \u201cVengeance is Mine, I will repay says the Lord\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
