Conservative Radio Personality David \u201cRenk\u201d Renkiewicz, 59, has died. Renk passed peacefully at home on Monday, April 17, surrounded by Amy, his wife of 10 years, and their three children. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 incurable adenocarcinoma of the biliary tree in mid-March, and the cancer grew very rapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renk was widely known in Southwest Michigan as host of the \u201cLive with Renk\u201d radio show, broadcast for 15 years on Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and Lansing radio stations. The three-hour daily show featured Renk\u2019s insightful commentary on politics, culture, government and economics, as well as interviews with politicians and newsmakers. Renk was well-versed on important issues affecting Michiganders. He invited callers\u2014both conservative and liberal\u2014to share their opinions, leading to informed discussion and heated debate. His many dedicated listeners were treated to his humor and rewarded with a lively and informative show each weekday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renk had a wealth of knowledge about popular music, and each segment of his show featured \u201cbumper music\u201d specifically tailored to the topic about to be presented. Renk ended his show and his broadcasting career in April 2022. The following month, he became campaign manager for State Representative Matt Hall (R-42nd District). After Hall’s re-election in his new Kalamazoo and Allegan district, Renk joined Hall\u2019s legislative staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renk was a principled conservative, and took every opportunity to share his values. He was a founder of the Calhoun County Tea Party in 2009, and frequently spoke at Republican events in Southwest Michigan. Renk served as Master of Ceremonies at the 2014 KGOP Lincoln Tribute Dinner, which featured Governor Rick Snyder. Renk was an elected Precinct Delegate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renk was committed to spreading the gospel of conservatism, and put his heart and soul into producing the best show possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KGOP is grateful that Renk educated many by sharing his conservative values in an entertaining and educational radio show. Rest In Peace, our friend \u201cRenk\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renk\u2019s funeral is 11 am Saturday in Battle Creek, with visitation Thursday and Friday 4-7 pm at Baxter Funeral Home, 357 W. Dickman Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
